SHRP Diversity and Inclusion

The University of Mississippi Medical Center asserts its belief that diversity allows students to encounter perspectives other than their own, which results in more vigorous and imaginative student reflections. Diversity aids students in learning how to relate better to persons of different backgrounds, which subsequently helps students to become better citizens and better health care providers. 

Our goal is to ensure that the School of Health Related Professions diversity strategic plan is carried forth in alignment with the mission of the Medical Center's organizational goals. We, therefore, ensure that our initiatives enhance UMMC's reputation in the community and region. Our mission is to promote diversity with a strong emphasis on inclusion. It is also to promote leadership, guidance and support to all constituencies of UMMC, including efforts to attract and retain a diverse mix of talented students, faculty and staff. Moreover, the School of Health Related Professions is dedicated to working collaboratively with our dean, faculty, staff, students and other senior administrative leaders across campus to uphold this aim.
